The Physical Practice: Asana

Using traditional Vinyasa Flow and Restorative yoga poses we can guide you through a yoga practice that is energizing, sustaining or healing. The body is an amazing vehicle and whether your goal is to reduce stress, increase strength, increase vitality, or correct your alignment we will release your limitations and help you move forward in a judgement free environment. You can deepen your practice one on one with Beth in her private studio in New York City, or have a small group of friends or your partner join you. Beth will also come to your home or office to work with you individually, or in a group.

Children’s Yoga

To enhance the joy of being a child while also gently teaching young people how to care for themselves. Starting early daily habits of exercise and mental relaxation practice carries children through the growing pains and carries into adult life. We offer yoga classes for children of all ages that will make everyone smile.

 

While receiving simple instruction, younger children are placed in a circle setting to better adapt to new words and practices that they can share with their peers. Older children are offered more practical tools to implement in life today, and into the future. All the classes emphasize the joy of the body, the care of oneself and the laughter that comes from a shared experience.  Accessible to anyone regardless of physical capability or experience. 

Meditation

In a busy world, it is often challenging to find the patience and time to take care of ourselves. The ancient art of mediation has been practiced for 5000 years and is older than any known religion.  Meditation can be a tool to finding peace, calmness, and meaning. It gives one a chance to reflect on one’s overall health, and to focus on what is important. These teachings and practices of the East help us to connect with the Divine, train the mind to be more stable and offer us a doorway to a better life. These ancient philosophies  of caring for oneself are correlated with modern science findings as well as psychological approaches.

    Beth will gently talk you through a meditation exercise and offer insight on how to deepen your own practice as well as offer other paths that can be used toward relaxation and self-realization.
  • Pranayama Breathing Exercises
    Using traditional Eastern exercises Beth will show you how to increase your oxygen intake, invigorate, or calm your mind, and how to relax into your life.

Reiki Services

Harmony Deva Yoga is happy to provide Reiki healing services. Beth Marshel is a Level One practitioner who has studied with the Unban Zen Integrative Therapy Program and the Yoga on High Teacher Training Institute. Reiki helps pain, anxiety, nausea, insomnia, constipation and exhaustion.

Reiki is a Japanese vibrational energy therapy facilitated by light touch, on or slightly off the body, balancing the human biofield. It was developed in Japan in 1920 by Dr. Mikao Usui and was introduced to the United States in 1937.  It is a technique proven to reduce stress, increase relaxation, and promote healing by channeling the body’s healing energy. A typical Reiki session usually lasts from 15 minutes to an hour, though in a Yoga session or clinical setting even a few minutes can very supportive for enhancing relaxation. In 2007, a study done by the National Health Interview Survey indicated that 1.2 million adults and 161,000 children received one or more sessions of energy healing therapy in the previous year.

The highest achievement, is seeing what is already there.
